Lauren Andrews, brand designer and founder of Simply Good Studio

From the founder

I'm Lauren.

I've spent the last 8+ years working across design, marketing, and creative strategy - helping creatives and founders figure out how their brand should look, feel, and communicate. I especially love working with female founders, but I work with anyone I genuinely connect with.

I'm about to graduate with a psychology degree, and it's shifted how I think about everything. I care about why people connect with brands, what builds trust, and how to make your audience feel something. The design comes from there.

How I got here

I'm what they call a squiggly creative - multi-passionate, multi-hyphenate, never quite fitting into one box. For a long time I thought that was a bad thing. Turns out it's the thing that makes me good at this.

I started freelancing as a fashion stylist for bands, then moved into makeup artistry at 17. I worked at MAC, freelanced for musicians, did music videos, short films, and worked on productions for Channel 4. From there I moved into marketing at an art insurance company, then took a freelance role working closely with a fine artist - helping with everything from brand to creative direction. After that I landed at a therapeutic counselling practice, managing their creative output, marketing, and brand.

Every role taught me something different. Styling taught me how to build a visual world. Makeup taught me attention to detail and working under pressure. Marketing taught me strategy. Working with artists taught me how to translate someone else's vision. And working in therapy taught me how to listen.

All of that lives inside Simply Good Studio now. I keep things simple, I make them good, and I care about the people I work with.

Design + psychology

I'm graduating with my psychology degree in 2026, and it's already shaping how I work. I think about why people connect with certain brands, what builds trust, and how to make your audience feel something. Then the design follows.

I was also diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, which suddenly made my entire squiggly career make sense. It means I understand neurodivergent brains - how they work, how they get stuck, and how to untangle the noise into something clear. A lot of my clients are neurodivergent or work with neurodivergent people, and that understanding makes a real difference.

Long term, I plan to train as a coach and therapist. For now, that thinking already lives in everything I do - especially Brand Therapy, which is part strategy, part creative direction, and part just helping you see what's already there.

The brief I work to: does this make your ideal client stop, pay attention, and want to work with you?

What it's like to work with me

Collaborative. Calm. You bring the mess, I find the shape. I'm not going to talk at you or tell you what to do - I'm going to listen, ask the right questions, and help you see what's already there.

I care about the work, but I also care about the process feeling good. No stress, no ego, no jargon. Just two people figuring something out together.

What I actually do

Brand Therapy

A 90-minute session to untangle what's not working and leave with a plan. Strategy, direction, and the brain bit before the design bit.

Brand Identity

Logos, visual direction, colour, type, guidelines - the foundation of how your brand looks and feels.

Website Design

Custom-built sites that look beautiful and actually work for your business. No templates.

Content and Design Retainer

An ongoing creative brain in your corner. Monthly design and content - photography, video, graphics, the lot - so the work doesn't stop the day a project wraps.

When I'm not working

I'm probably at a gig, making art, walking someone else's dog, or planning my next trip to Glastonbury (nine times and counting). Music and art are a huge part of my life. They feed everything I make. I'm happiest when I'm creating. For a client, for myself, doesn't matter.

Freelance Friends

I co-run Freelance Friends - a community for freelancers and small business owners in East London and beyond. It's a space for sharing work, asking questions, and not feeling like you're doing it all alone.

Being part of that community keeps me grounded. I understand what it's like to run your own thing, because I do too.

Hackney Wick, East London

This is where I'm based. Surrounded by warehouses, studios, canal boats, and some of the best creative energy in London. It shapes how I work - rooted, real, and a bit scrappy in the best way.

Why “Simply Good”

Because that's the whole philosophy. Doing things well without the fuss. No overcomplicating it. No 47-page strategy decks that nobody reads. Just clear thinking and creative work that lands.

Simply good. That's it.

“Lauren has this amazing ability to connect with people and handle even tricky situations with total grace. She came up with messaging we still use in our brand today, managed to grow our LinkedIn page by 6,000 followers in just a few months, and did an incredible job managing and engaging with our community of over 800 members. I'd work with Lauren again in a heartbeat.”

Shall we work together?

Need a full brand, or just a conversation to get unstuck? Either way, I'm here.
